Changes to Genre Conventions

Film trailers have changed over the last 3 to 4 decades albeit not massive changes. The main difference between older action trailer and modern trailers is special effects. The fact that they couldn't use special effects in older trailers means that they had to show more of the plot rather than lots of action and explosions etc. One example is James Bond, the film 'From Russia With Love' which was released in 1963, the trailer shows quite a lot of the plot line and there is a considerable lack of action in the trailer compared to the 'Quantum of Solace' released in 2008 which is quite the opposite. That trailer starts slowly but thje majority of the actual trailer is pure action which in comparison to the 0lder trailers is completely different. This example proves the point that the main difference between older trailer conventions and modern trailer conventions is the special effects.
